Downtown has been on a decade-long upswing, and at the Beekman Residences, one of the area's first new post-recession condos, its 68 homes are in their home stretch towards selling out. While the late-19th Century-built Temple Court Building was being converted to a five-star hotel named The Beekman, a 51-story condo tower designed by Gerner, Kronick + Valcarel rose next door. Its exposed and engraved concrete columns and dual crowns attracted the attention of architecture enthusiasts, and its studio through penthouses was received with great fanfare from the New York real estate community.

The apartments are about two-thirds spoken for, and the 10 actively listed units include two one-bedrooms priced at $2.125 million and eight two-bedrooms starting at $2.850 million. They were designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen, who is known for his work at One57, Jean Georges, and David Yurman.

Upon entering a 1,572-square-foot two-bedroom, two-bath on the 46th floor listed at $3.9 million, residents pass through a grand mahogany entry door into an elegant living/dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and the East River.

The chef’s kitchen has Madreperola quartzite countertops and backsplashes, custom cabinetry, and Miele appliances. The southeast-facing master bedroom features open views of the East River and the Statue of Liberty, and the en-suite bath has an enclosed shower, oversized soaking tub, and custom-designed limestone double vanity. Other features include high ceilings, wide plank oak flooring, and generous closet space.
As is standard practice with hotel residences throughout the city, residents have access to all The Beekman’s services and amenities, which include a fitness center and priority reservations at Fowler & Wells, a Tom Colicchio restaurant, and Keith McNally’s Augustine. However, a “residential retreat” on the 11th floor could render the hotel’s offerings superfluous. These exclusive amenities include a terrace, media room, and private dining room with a chef’s table. In-residence dining provided by Fowler & Wells is also offered.
