As downtown neighborhoods like Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and Greenwich Village rise in popularity and value, it appears that every possible development site has been snatched up, creating further scarcity and driving already high prices up. However, there is room for one more with The Elisa, an 11-story boutique condominium at 251 West 14th Street.
Current availabilities start at $1.45 million for one-bedrooms, $2.85 million for two-bedrooms, and $5 million for three-bedrooms. The 25 units also include a full-floor four-bedroom penthouse with a private terrace, but this has not come on the market yet.

The Elisa represents the first United States project for developer FPMC and their second collaboration with acclaimed architect Isay Weinfeld, who designed La Petite Afrique for them in Monte Carlo. His second New York project, following Jardim in West Chelsea, is distinguished by a small cantilever over a neighboring building. It is one of the taller buildings on its block, but its red brick facade makes it a respectful addition to the streetscape. The building's stacking plan shows a maximum of three units per floor, with two units per floor starting on the seventh floor.
At The Elisa, services like bike parking, private storage, and a central laundry room for large loads and items streamline residential life. However, the greatest perk may be its address at the intersection of Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village. The building is two blocks east of the High Line and four blocks west of Union Square Park. It is fairly surrounded by popular local restaurants; those who’d rather cook at home are in close proximity to high-quality food shopping at Chelsea Market, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods.
Additional area attractions include Little Island, Gansevoort Peninsula, the Whitney Museum, Chelsea galleries, designer retail, the food hall and rooftop park at Pier 57, and Meatpacking District nightlife. Nearly every major subway line stops on 14th Street, and the building is located along the 14th Street busway that has speeded up commute times and improved quality of life in the process.
Moreover, while The Elisa is a few blocks east of the West Chelsea condo boom, there are plenty of residential neighbors nonetheless. It is up the street from d’Orsay, a few doors down from the LEED Gold-certified Village Green West, and one block east of Meatpacking District trendsetters 345 Meatpacking and The Porter House.
