The buyer conducted the transaction through an LLC, but the seller is listed as Philippe Ségalot, the Christie's powerhouse turned private art dealer whom The Guardian counts among one of "the most powerful people in the art world." The prewar mansion-turned-boutique condominium is also home to hedge fund manager/Enron whistleblower James Chanos, who listed his penthouse for $23,500,000 earlier this year.
A few blocks north, sales have closed on nearly one third of the apartments at 109 East 79th Street, and the building recorded $54,177,469 in sales over the past week.
