As a walk along the High Line shows, West Chelsea has no shortage of architecturally adventurous condominiums designed to make the most of views of the elevated park. But thus far, just Lantern House has created a residents-only garden under the tourist-heavy High Line. It has been unveiled in time for summer.
The garden was designed by AD100 designer Hollander Design Landscape Architects, whose New York City portfolio includes the enormous courtyard at The Belnord, the garden with reflecting pools and Zen waterfalls at 40 Bleecker Street, and the multi-zoned private park at 11 Hoyt. For Lantern House, the team created a design that invokes a vibrant woodland with earthy plantings standing in stark contrast to the steel of the High Line. Additionally, the plantings were specifically chosen to work well in the shade of the elevated park.
The window to enjoy the garden at Lantern House is narrowing - a number of listings have already entered contract. The availabilities that remain start at $1.8 million for one-beds, $3.05 million for two-beds, $5.5 million for three-beds, and $9.55 million for four-beds.
