Zaha Hadid’s vision for modern Manhattan living is ready for inhabitation and the first closings have now been recorded. The homes closed in late June above their original asking prices at an average of $2,849 per square foot. Both are two-bedrooms that share the same unit line and layout, and are positioned along the building’s sweeping interior curve overlooking the High Line and West Chelsea.

Residence #9 is positioned on the seventh floor and closed for $6,033,272, more than $50K more that its original $5.975M ask in May 2016. A great room measuring nearly 40-foot long greets you upon entering. A full-height, curving glass wall frames the space, leading out to a balcony with sunny southeast-facing views of the High Line and a 2,500-square-foot sculpture garden.
There is a powder room just off the unit’s entrance and the open kitchen is anchored by a Hadid-designed marble island. A discreet curving wall sweeps you into the two bedrooms, both of which have en-suite baths. The master suite, measuring almost 20-feet wide, has a corner window, a walk-in closet, and its own sitting area.
Residence #14 is nearly identical in layout as #9, and closed for $6,198,750, slightly above its $6.195M January listing price.
The building has 39 residences in all, 8 of which are active on the market. Two-bedrooms are priced from $4.975M, 3-beds from $8.795M and a 4-bed priced at $13.5M. While we can’t imagine the custom-finishes, glass walls and lofty ceilings are beneficial to the environment, some of the building’s eco-friendly features will include energy-efficient lighting and interior air that will be filtered four times.
The cream-of-the-crop is the 5-bedroom 6,853-square-foot penthouse listed for a cool $50 million. Honed as a one-of-kind work of art, the three-floor home has private elevator access, 11’-10” ceiling heights, an internal staircase designed by the Pritzker Prize winner, and 3 private outdoor spaces including a wrap-around garden terrace.
The L-shaped structure is distinguished by gently-curved corners and full-bodied metal panels that chevron and undulate around a glass façade. As of July, the building’s exterior is just about finished and its palatially-sized lobby, resembling the command center of a spaceship, begs peering into.
Among the building’s most unique amenities is a private 12-person IMAX theater that the developers hope to show films at the same times they'd be shown to theater audiences. In addition to the usual roll call of perks, there will be robot parking, an outdoor kitchen, a private spa and a 75-foot pool with a skylight.
