As of this writing, the 2024 Summer Olympics are underway featuring favorite events like track and field, swimming, and gymnastics as well as more recent additions like breaking (making its debut this year), skateboarding, and sport climbing, which made its debut at the 2020 Games. This year's events will include speed climbing, a race to the top of a wall, and the newly combined boulder and lead event where the goal is to reach the highest point an athlete possibly can on the climbing wall. Climbing events will start on August 5 and end on August 10.
Athletes all over the world welcome the inclusion of climbing as an Olympic sport, having experienced the physical and mental benefits firsthand, and New York is an especially good place for climbers. City Climb is going strong at Edge in Hudson Yards; climbing gyms are open throughout the five boroughs; and residential developers have incorporated climbing walls into their fitness and recreational amenity packages. Below, we look at condos and rentals with climbing walls where future Olympians could very well be training.
