Olshan Realty's rundown of priciest contracts signed last week shows old school glamour is just as relevant as the city's contemporary condos. A sprawling $34 million penthouse duplex (a price reduction of $1 million) at the iconic landmark The Plaza Hotel took the number one spot and a nearby full-floor pre-war residence asking $22 million (down from $24 million) at 810 Fifth Avenue came in second. Both were built in the early 1900s and offer residents direct views of Central Park – a feature that will never go out of style. An even pricier listing at The Plaza is asking $50 million and just so happens to be fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger's pad, which he's been trying to sell since 2013.
In total, 24 luxury contracts were signed at $4 million and above in Manhattan, 8 of which were asking $10 million or more. It comes as no surprise that more than half of the deals come from Downtown, as that encompasses development-heavy neighborhoods like Tribeca, Greenwich Village, and Flatiron.
