540West at 540 West 49th Street is a newly opened condominium in Midtown West’s Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. The project is composed of a pair of nearly identical, modest-in-scale buildings, each covered in a staid curtain wall of glass and dark metal panels. Fortis Property Group and Wonder Works Construction Corporation are the developers who commissioned S9, an affiliate of Perkins Eastman Architects, for the design. The two 7-story buildings house a total of 110 condominium apartments and are separated by a landscaped courtyard. Construction began in 2013 and finished late last year. Now the development team reports 95% of all sponsor units have sold and currently there are just 8 residences on the market for purchase.
