Following last week's feed error, Manhattan's luxury contracts are being recorded again and coming in at a more expected level for this time of year. The top contract recorded by Olshan Realty's market report was for Residence #43N at 50 West 66th Street, the new tower rising in the Central Park West skyline. The 3,395-square-foot condo has four bedrooms, four and a half baths, a private loggia off the living room, and an asking price of $23,250,000.
The top contract recorded by CityRealty, and the top co-op contract recorded by Olshan, was pioneering TV journalist Barbara Walters' longtime home at 944 Fifth Avenue, which entered contract with an asking price of $17,750,000, down $2 million from when her estate listed it in April 2023. Coincidentally, the apartment entered contract in the middle of a Bonhams auction of Ms. Walters' art, furniture, jewelry, and other memorabilia, some of which appeared in listing photos.
The apartment at 944 Fifth Avenue was trailed by a three-bedroom loft at 108 Leonard Street, the New York Life Insurance Company headquarters turned celebrity favorite condominium. Residence #14D entered contract with an asking price of $12,965,000. Indeed, the top contracts for the past week showed an almost even mix of prestigious Fifth Avenue cooperatives and downtown industrial buildings converted to luxurious loft residences.
