Updated 2/23/2023 with information on the buyer of The Hampshire House, #27FL
Less than two weeks after the estate of hedge fund titan Julian H. Roberson Jr. listed it, the 27th floor of The Hampshire House entered contract with a $30,000,000 ask. The full-floor cooperative boasts 6,500 interior square feet, over 100 feet of Central Park frontage, and a massive private terrace overlooking the park.
Before Mr. Robertson bought it, the apartment was also owned by Alice Tully, opera singer and patron of the arts. Her donations assisted in the construction of a concert hall at the nearby Lincoln Center; it is now named in her honor. The Wall Street Journal identified the buyer as media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

The Hampshire House notwithstanding, Tribeca condos put on an excellent showing last week, accounting for four of the top five contracts recorded by CityRealty. The top downtown contract and second-highest overall took place at The Four Seasons Private Residences, where a four-bedroom penthouse with two private terraces entered contract with a $19,750,000 ask. Olshan Realty's market report notes that this is a reduction from the $21,750,000 asking price when it was initially listed in June 2022; however, if it goes for this ask, the unidentified seller would nevertheless make a small profit, having paid $18,429,688 for it in 2017.
Also in Tribeca, a penthouse at 161 Hudson Street formerly owned by comedian Jon Stewart entered contract with a $16,495,000 asking price. Mr. Stewart sold the penthouse for $17,500,000 in 2014, shortly before his tenure as the host of The Daily Show drew to a close. Since then, it changed hands again for a distinctly lower price; however, the most recent listing notes an extensive, high-tech renovation that brings it well into the 21st century and brings its price closer to the one Mr. Stewart got for it.
