Over the past week, Manhattan condos put on an especially impressive showing, thanks in part to two Billionaires' Row units. Leading the charge was #PH78 at super-skinny supertall 111 West 57th Street, which closed for $47,200,000 in what appears to be an off-market deal. The offering plan indicates that it has four bedrooms, four and a half baths, and 6,510 interior square feet; it also notes that the first offering price was $53,800,000.
Around the block, 220 Central Park South, home of the country's most expensive home sale, generated further headlines with the $33,800,000 sale of #37B, a three-bedroom unit. The Wall Street Journal identified the seller as Ofer Yardeni, chairman and CEO of Stonehenge NYC, and noted that he paid about $22.2 million for it in 2019, nearly six months after Ken Griffin's record-setting purchase. The buyer was not identified.

The top sale away from Billionaires' Row and third-highest overall was a spectacular penthouse with private elevator access, a fireplace, a Christopher Peacock kitchen, a luxurious primary suite, and three private terraces at Beckford Tower in Yorkville. In January 2023, the New York Post reported that New York Met Justin Verlander and his wife, model/actress Kate Upton, were in contract to buy the penthouse, which was asking $16,750,000 at the time, down from the original ask of $20,000,000. Public records show that it ultimately closed for $15,353,368.
