Midway through last week, the real estate world was abuzz about a four-bedroom apartment at 220 Central Park South, home of the country's most expensive home sale, that is reportedly in contract to sell for approximately $75 million. If this unit on the 64th floor sells for the asking price, it would be one of the most expensive apartments to sell in New York in 2023.
However, when The Wall Street Journal broke the news last week, they noted that the apartment was not formally listed for sale. As such, it did not appear among the Manhattan contracts recorded from May 22-28, 2023. The highest-priced luxury contract was for a triplex penthouse near the top of Yorkville condominium Citizen360 that entered contract with an asking price of $22,500,000. Olshan Realty's market report notes that the seller paid $20,558,626 for it in 2018, and that it was only on the market for about a month when it entered contract.
