From December 20-27, 2023, only 36 sales listings throughout New York City experienced price reductions. Among them was the Park Avenue home of Douglas Fairbanks Jr., son of early film legend Douglas Fairbanks, former husband of Joan Crawford, and movie star and World War II hero in his own right.
In the years that Mr. Fairbanks and third wife Vera Shelton lived in their apartment at The Beekman, they entertained the likes of Lawrence Olivier, Rex Harrison, Bobby Short, and the Duke of Wellington. Perhaps in a nod to Mr. Fairbanks' years in England following World War II, he had the apartment renovated by British designer Jane Churchill along with architect Benjamin Huntington. Mr. Fairbanks and Ms. Shelton lived in the apartment until his death in 2000, and she is its current owner.

The apartment was listed for $1.75 million in October 2023, but a recent price reduction has brought it down to $1,500,000. Monthly fees of $9,369 might give some pause, but it should be noted that they include all utilities along with daily housekeeping.
