Summer is typically New York's busiest season for renting out apartments with demand tending to peak in August. However, a recent report by Miller Samuel found that new lease signings dipped month over month in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Appraiser Jonathan Miller attributes some of this to renters in (somewhat) approachable apartments choosing to renew their leases rather than incur the expense of moving, not to mention higher rents: Median rents in those three boroughs hit new records for the fourth time in five months.

Meanwhile, from August 2-8, 2023, a total of 287 rental listings experienced price reductions, while prices went up on 397 units. A selection of notable listings may be seen below. Please be advised that all figures reflect cumulative price cuts as opposed to the most recent discounts.
