Not only have rising interest rates and market turbulence had an impact, but it is now nearly a month from midterm elections, which has many people anxious. However, Olshan Realty's market report points out that the Rosh Hashanah holiday also fell last week, which could also account for a lull.
The top contract of the week was for #57A at One Madison, a full-floor three-bedroom unit asking $16,000,000. The apartment is owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, who lived there while the white box triplex penthouse above was constructed to his exact specifications; after the penthouse was ready, this apartment was used for staff and guests. Mr. Murdoch listed both properties for a combined total of $78,000,000 in March 2022, and the penthouse remains on the market with a slightly reduced price of $58,000,000.
