As rents escalate, the best way to stop forking over thousands of dollars to your landlord is buying, and a steady stream of pre-war rental-to-condo/co-op conversions offers entry-level apartments affordable to a larger share of New Yorkers.
Over in Queens, Glacier Equities is overhauling a four-wing gated community in Flushing into 62 newly-renovated condominium homes priced from $689K. Dubbed Northern Lights, partly due to its address at 148-09 Northern Boulevard, the complex is selling one- to three bedrooms with renovated kitchens and baths coupled with timeless details.
The Tudor-style community was finished in 1926 and features a central landscaped courtyard along with some preserved historic features, many of which have been refreshed.
