At this time three years ago, New York City was on lockdown, and the rich and famous had decamped to larger homes in more far-flung locations. But now that the city has opened up again and shown an extremely high percentage of residents vaccinated, it is looking appealing for luminaries in all industries. This past week saw purchases and sales from stars of stage, screen, and business.

35 Charlton Street
Is there a #MeToo effect on real estate? Nearly two years after the New York City homes of Jeffrey Epstein and Russell Simmons sold at dramatically reduced prices, Louis C.K. is taking a loss on his Soho townhouse. The New York Post notes that the house hit the market for $8.49 million in September 2022, following his purchase of a Fifth Avenue apartment, and steadily dropped over the next few months. The last listing price was $6.5 million, the same price the comedian paid for it in 2012.

From the Listing:
35 Charlton is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history in prime Soho. Built in 1829, this beautiful townhouse is part of the longest row of Federal and early Greek Revival buildings developed by John Jacob Astor. There are endless value-add opportunities either as an expansive single family home with a separate rental apartment below or one completely private residence. This three-story residence features 13 rooms, 3.5 baths, a second story terrace, a private yard and picturesque neighborhood views. This is a truly remarkable find!
