Progress continues at 242 West 53rd Street in Midtown West, where CetraRuddy’s proposed 59-story tower has now begun to rise. The site previously hosted Roseland Ballroom, the renowned NYC live music club; a demolition mourned by many. Developed by Algin Management, the new mixed-use residential building will top out at 625 feet, hosting 426 no fee residences and three stories of retail space at the base levels. The tower will host residences ranging from studios to two-bedrooms units, as well as some duplexes on the upper floors and a four-bedroom penthouse to top it all off.

CetraRuddy’s design for the building was inspired by its vibrant theater district surroundings, as well as guided by the area’s zoning constraints. Their solution is a tower with a rising mass, with larger units at the top and smaller units at the bottom. They designed the residences to maximize floor space, allow outdoor access, and enable resplendent views.
The tower will host 30,000 square feet of amenities, including a fitness center, a basketball court, two swimming pools, a golf simulator, multiple lounges, a private dining room, and an outdoor terrace and roof. More services will include a 45-car parking garage, bicycle storage, and private storage.
