A condominium conversion is nearing completion at 200 East 62nd Street on the Upper East Side. Going by the name 200 E 62, the reimagined building recently unveiled its landscaped porte-cochere, two model residences, and some of the building's amenities. In an event last week, the building's developers O’Connor Capital teamed up with the Mercedes Benz dealership of Massapequa to reveal the new driveway.
The 30-story building has a total of 115 residences, and the current availabilities include 1-bedrooms starting from $1.85 million, 2-bedrooms starting from $2.75 million, 3-bedroom starting from $3.4 million, and 4-bedrooms starting from $5.7 million. There are also two 2-bedroom apartments for rent starting from $11,250/month. Select homes are available for immediate occupancy.

Architecture and design firm Messana O’Rorke redesigned the building’s interiors as spacious and light-filled residences with open layouts and top-notch finishes. Homes include 7-inch oiled white oak plank flooring, 9-foot ceilings, Miele washer and dryers, and solid core doors with polished chrome hardware. Windowed kitchens feature marble countertops and backsplashes, custom white matte lacquer cabinetry, Miele appliances, under-cabinet lighting, and Blanco undermounted stainless steel sinks. Master baths are appointed with Basaltina stone flooring with radiant heat, marble countertops, Kohler undermounted sinks, Toto toilets, marble showers, and designer tubs.
Beyond the gorgeous landscaped porte-cochere driveway, the building hosts a lobby complete with Basaltina stone fooring, a fireplace, a stainless steel reception desk and podium, and an elevator area with black walnut surrounds. More amenities include a 24-hour doorman, an Abigail Michaels concierge, a rooftop terrace, a children’s playroom, fitness center, a laundry room, an on-site parking garage, and bicycle storage. The building also hosts retail space at its base.
Prior to O’Connor Capital’s acquisition, 200 E 62 stood as a rental building constructed in 1966 that was known as The Wellington and had 241 units. Along with the interior conversion, the building now hosts an updated streetscape with a curved glass-and-metal entrance marquee and a driveway with a slanting granite wall. The orange-brick tower features a setback on its south façade and a distinctive and geometric broad stone frieze above the first story.
Situated on the southeast corner of Third Avenue in Lenox Hill, the building is in close proximity to a Bloomingdale’s and the many shops on Lexington Avenue. Also nearby is Museum Mile, Central Park, and the Park Avenue Armory. The units join 449 residences for sale in the neighborhood which have a median price of $2.6 million, or $1,769 per square foot. The average closing price for a Lenox Hill condo this October was $1,576 per square foot, down from last October’s average closing price of $1,639 per square foot.
