Construction has officially begun at 305 Union Avenue, the site of EcoRise Development’s new multifamily residential complex, dubbed EcoRise Union Avenue. Designed by Garrison Architects, the building will top out at seven stories and feature a glass and metal façade with balcony trellises for climbing plants. The vertical gardens will result in a green-covered building that will change colors with the seasons, and will filter sunlight into its beautiful interiors.
Garrison Architects drew inspiration from Le Corbusier’s Maison Clarte apartment block to create the building, and it reflects the industrial past of Williamsburg, while offering contemporary design through its interior finishes.

Inside, the building will host 18 apartments. Each will be finished with natural materials and bright surfaces that will enhance expansive living spaces. Private balconies and rooftop terraces will yield outdoor space for relaxation. Designed with sustainability in mind, the building will minimize its energy consumption through environmentally-friendly features.
EcoRise Union Avenue will also feature a fully-enclosed parking garage, private storage units, and an automated doorman system. Michael Schlegel of Ecorise Development purchased the property for just $1.25 million in August 2013. Expected completion for the project is slated for 2017.
