Progress continues at 200 East 95th Street, as Extell’s new residential building The Kent rapidly climbs to its position on the Upper East Side skyline in Carnegie Hill. Expected to be complete in 2017, the tower will top out at 30 floors and host 83 condominium residences. Architects Beyer Blinder Belle designed the exterior, interweaving contemporary details with traditional orange brick, dark metal, and limestone. Metal and glass corner “lanterns” will sit at the building’s top three tiers, marking the upper and penthouse units. The building will carry distinction with its unique crown, corner exposures, and oversized windows.

Inside, the Kent will feature two- to five-bedroom residences designed by Alexandra Champalimaud. Each will feature oversized windows, 15-foot ceilings, custom millwork and hardware, and a choice of either Ebonized or Brushed Oak flooring. Eat-in kitchens will come dressed in one of three different elegant color palettes: Ivory, Opal, and Onyx. They will host custom cabinetry with metal mesh accented upper glass doors, integrated Miele appliances, Sub-Zero wine storage (in most), and premium Dornbracht fittings. Master baths will feature Alexis Azul marble with Bianco Dolomiti accents, stepped ceilings, Axor designer fittings, and accessories by Patricia Urquiola.
Amenities will abound at The Kent. Residents will enter through a double-height entrance, sheltered by a timeless antique metal and glass marquee. Inside will sit a beautiful two-story lobby, featuring Rosewood paneled walls, etched metal inlays, marble patterned floors, and custom chandeliers. A drawing room, perfect for entertaining and socializing, will host warm wood paneling, gold leaf ceilings, antique mirrors, a fireplace, and a marble-topped bar. The building’s indoor 55-foot heated pool area will feature Finnish saunas, a backlit glass sculptural wall, and teak millwork. Other amenities will include a state-of-the-art fitness center, an interactive indoor/outdoor children’s playroom dubbed Camp Kent, and the Garden Salon, a room designed as an extension of the home with a fireplace, billiards table, library, catering kitchen, and adjacent landscaped courtyard designed by West 8 landscape architects. To top it off, a Lenny Kravtiz-designed Sound Lounge will offer residents a multi-sensory retreat/studio space to practice musical instruments, screen a motion picture, perform, dance, and play video games.
Located on tree-lined 95th Street on the Upper East Side, the Kent occupies an optimal central location, with Central Park to the west and the riverfront to the east. Nearby is a 3-story Whole Foods Market for grocery shopping convenience, as well as the 92nd Street Y and Asphalt Green. The area is host as well to some of the city’s best public and private schools.
