Almost two years ago to the date, The Bauhouse Group of New York released renderings of their new building at 515 West 29th Street. Now, architecture firm SCDA has unveiled the building’s first interior renderings of the awaited High Line project, which follow in the same upscale vein as the exterior. Purchased by Bauhouse managing member Joseph Beninati in 2013 for $24.35 million, the Chelsea property sits alongside a juncture in the High Line, which will allow each unit a view of the elevated park. Designed by Soo K. Chan of SCDA, the building is meant to be reminiscent of the ocean, with laser cut fritted laminated glass plates and steel that resemble a rippled surface of the sea.
Interiors at 515 High Line will range from 2,100 to 4,400 square feet, and pricing will range from $5 million to $25 million. In total, the building will host 12 apartments across 11 stories. According to the new renderings, the residences will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and high end fixtures. Three penthouses will be appointed with generous outdoor space and spacious 22-foot ceilings. A dumbwaiter will connect each home to a large kitchen in the building’s basement, providing residents with accessible extra space. At the base of the building will sit ground floor retail and gallery space.
515 High Line will include a leftover 64x45-foot brick space from the previous structure to display large artwork. The space will occupy the building’s flat eastern wall facing the High Line. Joseph Beninati has promised that the art-destined block will never tout advertisements.
Soo K. Chan is also responsible for the design for Soori High Line, an 11-story development alongside at 522 West 29th Street that will boast private resident pools throughout the building. The $125 million development is slated for completion next year, and 515 High Line expects completion in this year.
