Back in April, we gave you an exclusive first look at new model units photos of Inkwell, the respectful schoolhouse-to-condo conversion at 520 West 45th Street. Now, the boutique Hell's Kitchen condominium is already more than 50 percent sold and currently has 10 of its 18 residences in contract, according to yesterday's press release from developer Gotham Organization.
To recap on the project, Inkwell was originally built in 1905 as PS 51 elementary school and underwent interior renovations by the NY-based design firm AvroKO to become fit for residential living. The five-story brick building is made up of mostly two-bedroom homes, ranging from 1,200 to 1,400 square feet. There are also two three-bedroom homes, spanning approximately 2,000 square feet. Immediate occupancy is available for the remaining 8 units and prices start at $1.875M.
Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing is handling marketing and sales for Inkwell and closings are scheduled to commence this month.

“The old-school charm - coupled with its luxurious finishes - is what makes Inkwell stand apart from anything else in the marketplace and has continued to attract strong interest.”

What makes Inkwell an example of a thoughtful conversion? Just check out its interiors, which are clearly inspired by its historic schoolhouses of yesteryear. Apartments feature custom door frames and transoms, brass knobs, full-height library ladders that operate along slides to reach custom cabinetry, blackboards in entryways, cubby storage, and AvroKO-designed custom lighting and millwork throughout. Then there are just some added perks like walnut flooring, 13-foot ceilings, oversized windows, custom finishes, an in-unit washer/dryer, and state-of-the-art kitchens with farmhouse sinks and Viking appliances.
Building amenities include a part-time doorman, full-time super, package room, an outdoor lounge, bike and tenant storage, and a school-inspired gym.
