The future Midtown East home of the fitness- and wellness-themed EVEN Hotel is readying for its fall launch. Situated one block away from Grand Central Terminal, the 35-story mixed-use tower at 219 East 44th Street will host the hotel brand’s third location in the city and will operate 230 rooms. According to EVEN's official official website, reservations will be accepted for arrivals starting November 1, 2016. Rooms will be on floors 4-26 with 10 suites per floor. Building permits show its upper floors will be crowned with ten residential penthouses.
The building’s developers are a partnership between CWC and the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG), who are also the parent company of the Holiday Inn and Crown Plaza brands. The 410-foot tower is designed by Peter Poon Architects and features a protruding curved entryway, a sheer tower with a stark white exterior, and a glass curtain wall above.
IHG debuted their first Manhattan EVEN Hotel last year at 321 West 35th Street, and also has recently opened a Downtown Brooklyn location. The brand promotes a health and wellness lifestyle for travelers through in-room fitness zones for private workouts and healthy food and beverage options. Additionally, the hotel will have dedicated meeting areas, indoor/outdoor eating and exercise space, and spa-inspired showers.
The mixed-use tower replaces an eight-story building that previously housed the popular Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse. Renderings show the beloved eatery will return to the tower's ground floor later this year. Stay tuned for word on the residences near the building's pinnacle.
