Another tower is adding some height to the fast-growing Downtown Brooklyn skyline. 436 Albee Square recently topped out its concrete structural frame at 341 feet, 28 stories high. Developed by Yoel Schwimer of Albee Square LLC, the 150 unit mixed-use rental building spans 155,100 square feet in total, 23,740 of which will be designated for commercial retail space along its three lower stories that will complement the 675,000-square-foot shopping center at City Point that is gearing up to open later this year.
Designed by the popular firm of ODA, 436 Albee Square's exterior is defined by a unique interplay of asymmetrical balconies, giving off a boxy, pixelated aesthetic. The first few panels of what will ultimately be a full glass façade, has been applied to a few of the lower levels. The residential units, likely rentals, will begin above the retail podium on the tower’s fourth floor and average approximately 793 square feet each. There will be eight units on floors 4 and 5, six on floors 6 through 27, and two on floor 28. The penthouse residences will feature a set of private terraces. Above the tower will sit an outdoor rooftop recreation area, perfect for evening entertainment and catching gorgeous views.
426 Albee will provide an on-site parking area for 30 cars and parking for 75 bikes. The tower is conveniently located a few blocks from the stops of nearly a dozen subway lines. Surrounding the building is Brooklyn’s blossoming dining, shopping, and cultural scene. 436 Albee Square will be finished in 2017.
