Related Companies’ second and tallest residential tower within the Hudson Yards master plan
has emerged above ground. An army of steel columns are poised to soldier skyward, and will soon embark on a 1,009-foot climb, ultimately making it the second highest tower on the superblock.
The tiered and curvaceous design by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill combines the classical skyscraper silhouettes of the city with contemporary modernism. The tower will feature a curtain wall consisting of vertical striations of limestone that yield to increasing amounts of glass wedged in between. The apex of the building will be reminiscent of a glass lantern and its pinwheel shape should become a new staple in the Midtown skyline.

35 Hudson Yards is situated at the northwest corner of the eastern railyards at 500 West 33rd Street between Eleventh Avenue and the new Hudson Boulevard. Across its 72 floors will be 135 apartments, a hotel, and office space. The residences will become the highest within the mega-project and will have an unparalleled amenity package that includes all the services provided to the hotel below.
Showing their unwavering confidence in the project, Related Companies is slated to move their offices from the Time Warner Center to the lower floors of the tower. Related's chairman Stephen Ross plans to move his personal residence to the penthouse. To efficiently manufacture the immense amount of curtain wall panels that will sheathe Hudson Yards' skyscrapers, the company started New Hudson Facades (NHF), a custom architectural façade company specializing in the design, engineering, manufacturing, and installation of facades.
Among the long list of amenities in the building are three levels of fitness areas, including an Equinox gym, a basketball court, and a swimming pool. The supertall skyscraper is slated for completion in 2019.
