Nelson Management Group and L+M Development Partners are co-developing two new mixed-use buildings at 1530 Story Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood of the South Bronx. The two buildings, 13 stories each, will join the existing Lafayette-Boynton residential complex. This 4-tower development was built in 1969 and offers a total of 972 affordable apartments. The new project is named Story Avenue East and will be completed in late 2019.
Each of the new buildings will offer 7,500 square feet of community facility space and 212 affordable apartments. Half of the units will be reserved for low-income residents earning 57% of the area’s median income, and the other half will be for moderate-income residents earning 80%-95% of the area’s median income. Curtis + Ginsberg Architects will be designing the residences.
The two towers will be connected by a one-story structure that will house a shared fitness center for all residents. Other amenities will include a playground, laundry room, storage space, outdoor fitness area, community gardens, and central greenways with seating and walking paths. There will also be a large parking lot for 932 vehicles.
