Long Island City’s booming rental market gained another modern addition as One LIC lanches leasing for 110 luxury rental apartments. The 21-story building stands at 42-10 27th Street and faces Queens Plaza, the hub of the burgeoning Court Square neighborhood.

In the past few years, Long Island City has undergone a thorough transformation from a sleepy district of parking lots and warehouses into New York City’s latest residential destination. Court Square’s brand new skyline consists chiefly of rental apartment buildings, which allow white-collar workers and their families to live minutes away from Midtown. The local rental market ranks among the city’s hottest, as LIC’s luxury rental prices have surged by 16 percent since the start of the year. One LIC shares the block with Luna LIC, an office building rebuilt as a 124-unit rental in 2016, and a striking, sloped 18-story rental under construction at 42-20 27th Street, designed by the prominent architecture firm ODA.

One LIC comes from the combined effort of developer NY Lions Group and Queens-based architect Raymond Chan. A facade of light-colored metal panels and glass-railed balconies creates a bright, cheerful presence on the skyline. Ceilings soar nearly ten feet high, and broad, floor-to-ceiling windows provide ample sunlight and panoramic views of the Manhattan and Queens skylines.

Apartments are decked out with Terra Legno hardwood floors, Samsung stainless steel appliances in the kitchens, and Kohler and Hansgrohe fixtures and heated floors in the bathrooms. Most units include washers and dryers.

The 10,000-square-foot amenity package includes a doorman-serviced lobby, a children’s playroom, and storage units. The 20th floor fitness center lets residents work out in observatory-like settings, and the 21st floor features work spaces, an entertainment lounge, kitchenette-equipped party space available for rent, and an outdoor deck with barbecue stations perfect for leisurely summertime evenings.

One LIC sits next to the entrance to the Queensboro Plaza station of the 7, N, and W trains. Cycling enthusiasts may take the adjacent greenway to the nearby Queensboro Bridge or elsewhere via the neighborhood’s rapidly-growing bike lane network. The development contributes to the lively retail strip with street-level retail, which includes a Starbucks cafe.

The Long Island City lifestyle becomes more appealing each year as new shops and restaurants open across the neighborhood. City agencies and local community organizations organize public events and push for added green space. The iconic Hunters Point Library is set to open later this month on the nearby East River waterfront. Moreover, Long Island City sits between Greenpoint, Sunnyside, and Astoria, three lively neighborhoods that offer some of the finest dining and entertainment in Brooklyn and Queens.
