Carter's Review
This sleek and striking, 63-story, mixed-use building at 460 West 42nd Street is a dark-glass tower designed by Arquitectonica, which is based in Miami.
Arquitectonica is also the architect of the colorful Westin Hotel on the northeast corner of 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue. The interiors are desiged by Jamie Drake.
This building, which is known as Manhattan View at MiMa for “Middle of Manhattan,” has 151 condominium apartments on the top 13 floors above 500 rental apartments below. It also contains a 669-room Yotel Hotel and the Signature Center complex of three theaters designed by Frank Gehry.
The building was completed in 2011 and has LEED Gold certification.
Bottom Line
One of the city’s major mixed-use skyscrapers, Manhattan View at MiMa is not exactly in the proverbial “Middle of Manhattan” as its name implies, but it’s not far off, and, more importantly, it’s near the very top of the city’s list of buildings with the most impressive list of amenities.
Description
This very impressive, dark-glass slab tower is one of the stand-out developments along the Far West 42nd Street corridor.
Amenities
The building has a 24-hour concierge, a garage, a personal assistant for residents, an “invisible butler” to run and manage your residence when you are away, a technology concierge for setting up computers and media, package delivery placed directly in a resident's apartment and Dog City, a pet spa with indoor and outdoor play spaces, grooming, walking, training and in-home feeding.
It also has a landscaped terrace with BBQ grills and private dining pods outside of the building’s 44,000-square-foot M Club, which has three outdoor terraces, lounges, a catering kitchen that can accommodate three separate events at once, a terrace on the building’s south side with a big screen outdoor theater, a tech center with printer, fax, copier, kitchenette, vending machines and coffee bar, a game room with a billiards table and card tables. It also has a dramatic center island fireplace overlooking the city, a full-size basketball court, a 55-foot-long swimming pool and an Equinox fitness center.
