Carter's Review

This attractive, 12-story building at 360 West 36th Street between  Eighth and Ninth avenues in the Garment District was erected in 1926. 

It was converted to a residential co-operative in 1962 and has 26 apartments. 

It was designed by Parker & Shaffer which also designed the 19-story Master Printers Building at 460 West 34th Street. 

This building is known as The Courant, named after the Hartford Courant newspaper empire. 

Bottom Line

A mid-block, converted commercial building in Midtown West, this building is near the Hudson Yards and Penn Station.

Description

This brown-brick building has some Art Deco-style bandcourses and finials on its setbacks that begin at its 8th floor. 

It has a one-story limestone base.

The penthouse has four bedrooms and a 37-foot-long living/dining room with an 18-foot-long kitchen with a 14-foot-long butler's pantry.  The living/dining room also has a 31-foot-long alcove that leads to a 18-foot-long library and stairs up to a 27-foot-long terrace with a 14-foot-wide solarium.  Three of the unit's bedrooms have narrow terraces. 

Apartment 10S is a three-bedroom unit with a 10-foot-long entry foyer that leads past a 17-foot-wide media room to a 31-foot-long great room with an open, 11-foot-long kitchen with a breakfast bar. 

Apartment 2S is a three-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads to a dining room with an open kitchen and a living room. 

Apartment 5NE is a one-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads into a 13-foot-wide open kitchen next to an 18-foot-wide dining room that opens onto a 26-foot-wide living room all clustered around a bathroom surrounded by closets.
