Carter's Review
This attractive, red-brick rental apartment complex at 505 West 54th Street is known as Archstone West 54th Street and has 164 apartments. The project consists of a 12-story tower building and a six-story second building at 510 West 55th Street with 58 units.
The two buildings were erected in 2001 by Clinton 54 LLC, of which David Picket was a principal and designed by SLCE.
It has a fitness center, 24-hour laundry facilities, a garage, a large and handsome private courtyard with outdoor seating and a pebble garden, a third-floor sundeck, bicycle storage and a grocery store on-site. It is pet friendly. It is also known as 815-819 Tenth Avenue.
The building has a rounded corner and a setback tower and the lobby evokes the neighborhood's industrial heritage with concrete and brick surfaces "muted by a rock water wall."
