Carter's Review

This attractive, 19-story, mid-block, rental apartment building at 210 East 39th Street was built in 2017 by CBSK Ironstate, which consists of CB Developers of which Charles Blaichman is a principal, SK Development and Ironstate Development.

It has 57 units of which 11 are “affordable.”

It is just to the east of 200 East 39th Street, which was completed in 2015 by the same developer and is known as The Frontier.  It has 91 apartments, including 20 “affordable units.”  Both buildings were designed by Rawlings Architects.

The buildings have ground-floor retail spaces and a glassy second-story amenity space and a terra cotta rain-screen-clad frame.

The complex is close to Grand Central Terminal and the United Nations.

Bottom Line

A handsome, gray-colored, two-building complex on the southeast corner of Third Avenue and 39th Street with partially indented façades, many corner windows and a corner setback above the 15th floor.

Description

The combined mass of the two adjoining buildings is a bit complicated with a corner setback with corner windows beneath a short top with two balconies and a mid-block façade indentation that rises from the third floor to the penultimate floor.

The mid-block building has a large entrance marquee.

Amenities

The building has a 24-hour doorman, an entrance marquee, bicycle storage, a roof deck, a lounge and a fitness center in the Frontier.  Pets are allowed.
