Carter's Review
This sleek rental apartment tower was erected by Glenwood Management, one of the city's leading builders of luxury apartment buildings, in 1998.
The 51-story building, whose addresses at 240 East 39th Street and 221 East 38th Street, has 466 apartments.
The slab form of the tower is nicely modulated with projected bays and its mass is somewhat minimized by the high ratio of windows on the façades.
The building has a health club and pool, a 24-hour doorman, a garage, video security, a driveway, a bicycle room, a storage room, a private garden, a landscaped sundeck, a children's room, and the apartments have marble baths and washer/dryer units.
The lobby has a dome ceiling and there is a separate, attended service entrance, and escorted deliveries.
The handsome building, which was designed by Costas Kondylis, is not far from Grand Central Terminal, the United Nations and the midtown business district and is on the eastern edge of the pleasant Murray Hill district.
Its mid-block location affords many good views as well as being quieter than a site along an avenue.
