Carter's Review

The Lanthian is a 23-story rental apartment building at 377 East 33rd Street on the northwest corner at First Avenue in Kips Bay.

It has 209 apartments.

The building, which is also known at 577-585 First Avenue, was erected in 1998 and designed by Costas Kondylis. 

It is now owned by Greystar Development, after having been bought by AvalonBay Communities from Archstone, which had bought it for $131 million from Madison International Realty and RFR Realty LLC.  The property has been known as Eastbridge Landing, Avalon Kips Bay and The Eastland.

Bottom Line

An attractive large rental apartment building with many curved living rooms in Kips Bay near hospitals and the Queens Midtown Tunnel.

Description

The red-brick building has a rounded corner at 33rd Street and three step-downs on 33rd Street and one on First Avenue.

Amenities

The building has a 24-hour doorman, a roof deck, a children’s playroom, a garage, a gym, a fitness center, laundry facilities, a business center, a media center and a sauna/spa.

It is pet-friendly.

Apartments

Apartments have washer-dryer hook-up, hardwood flooring, crown moldings, 9-foot ceilings and some have fireplaces.

Kitchens have white cabinetry, GE appliances, pot-scrubber dishwashers, refrigerator with door water and ice service.

Apartment 16GH is a three-bedroom unit with a 13-foot-long home office and a 26-foot-long living room with a 9-sided wall of windows and a 8-foot-long dining room next to an enclosed kitchen.

Apartment 1110 is a two-bedroom unit with an entry foyer across from a pass-through kitchen next to a 19-foot-wide living room with a curved, 10-side window wall that opens onto a 24-foot-long terrace and a 10-foot-long terrace.

Apartment 1163 is a two-bedroom unit with a 16-foot-long living room with a 9-foot-long dining alcove next to an enclosed kitchen and a terrace.

Apartment 961 is a two-bedroom unit with an 18-foot-long living/dining room and a pass-through kitchen.

Apartment 16A is a studio unit with a 25-foot-long living area with sleeping and dining alcoves and an enclosed kitchen.

Location

 It is across First Avenue from the NYU Langone Medical Center and near the Queens Midtown Tunnel and the United Nations complex.
