The Nash at 222 East 39th Street is a 25-story, 187-unit rental building in Murray Hill between Third and Second Avenues.
The former Eastgate Hotel tower, it was acquired in 2012 by the Atlas Capital Group for $69 million from the Procaccianti Group of Cranston, R.I., which had bought it in 2006 for $68 million.
Thomas O’Hara of H.T.O. Architect, PLLC, was the architect for the conversion. David Schefer Design LLC is the interior designer.
The building, which was erected in 1972, was designed by Sidney Goldhammer.
Bottom Line
The building, which is not far from Grand Central Terminal and the United Nations, has a porte-corchère driveway and a landscaped side plaza.
Description
This two-tone brown brick tower is has a side plaza immediately east of the Midtown Tunnel Access Road and a porte-corchère driveway. The plaza has a European-style ornamental fountain with three horn-blowing cherubs and a figure holding a fish.
The concierge desk has “222” deeply incised on its front and the lobby has a handsome, black, red and white palette.
The smoke-free building has discrete air-conditioners and sidewalk landscaping.
