Carter's Review

This handsome, Neo-Classical, 10-story former warehouse at 682 Broadway on the southeast corner at Great Jones Street in NoHo was erected in 1903 by J. W. Stevens Building Co.

Later owners included William Bears Crowell and the Public National Bank and by the 1920s it was occupied by offices and manufacturing lofts and eventually by 30 co-operative apartments.

Bottom Line

An attractive limestone, 10-story building on Broadway in NoHo with large, co-operative apartments that are convenient to the New York University.

Description

The limestone-clad building has a two-story, rusticated base with thin bandcourses above the second and third floors and a larger bandcourse above the 8th floor which was curved arc windows at its corners.

There is a cornice above the tenth floor and a mid-block fire-escape on Great Jones Street where this building has an attractive cast-iron fence.

Amenities

The building has storage, an intercom, and in-unit washers and dryers.
