Carter's Review
This attractive, mid-block apartment building was erected in 1923 and converted to a cooperative in 1949.
The 10-story building, which is just to the east of Temple Israel, has 37 apartments.
The building has a one-story limestone base and a two-story limestone entrance surround. It has sidewalk landscaping and consistent multi-paned fenestration. It has very nice window grills on the first floor and rustication on the second and third floors and the quoins. The building has a concierge and a step-down lobby and permits protruding air-conditioners.
This is one of the more desirable areas of the Upper East Side as it is convenient to boutiques and restaurants on Lexington, Third and Madison Avenues. Lenox Hill Hospital is two blocks to the north as is a subway station on Lexington Avenue. There is good cross-town bus service on 72nd Street.
