Carter's Review

This very handsome mid-rise, mid-block apartment building at 224 Riverside Drive between 94th and 95th Streets was built in 1910 and has 29 apartments.

The 7-story building was converted to a co-operative in 1985.

Bottom Line

This very attractive, mid-rise, pre-war apartment building is close to the 96th Street express station of the IRT subway on Broadway.


 

Description

The building has a two-story, rusticated limestone base with broad pilasters flanking the two-step-up entrance.

It also has a bandcourse beneath the top floor and a large cornice supported by large brackets

The beige-brick façade has attractive window surrounds and there are some producing air-conditioners.

The building has consistent fenestration and a decorative balcony above its entrance, which has very handsome casts-iron and glass doors.

The building’s entrance is flanked by tall fences that lead down to basement apartments.

The building has a live-in superintendent, individual storage fins, a laundry, a bicycle room and a laundry and is pet-friendly.

Apartment 7D is a one-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that opens onto a 6-foot-living room next to an 11-foot-long enclosed kitchen.

Apartment 7A is a one-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads to a 16t-foot-long living room with a fireplace and a n open, 11-foot-long kitchen.

Apartment 4B is a two-bedroom unit with a 12-foot-long entry foyer that leads to a 7-foot-long living room with an open, 15-foot-long kitchen with an island.  The unit also has a home office.

Apartment 2B is a two-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads down a very long hall to a 16-foot-living room with a decorative fire place that opens onto an eat-in, 19-foot-long kitchen.
