Carter's Review
This attractive, 15-story, beige-brick apartment building was erected in 1927 and converted to a cooperative in 1979. It has 62 apartments.
It was designed by George and Edward Blum, whose other buildings in Manhattan include 599, 670 and 760 West End Avenue, 791, 940 and 1075 Park Avenue, 322 Central Park West and 320 East 57th Street.
The building is located at the foot of Riverside Park and at a major entrance to the West Side Highway. It commands sweeping vistas to the north of the Hudson River and Riverside Park.
It has a two-story stone base with a canopied entrance and two maisonettes with stoops. The building has a bandcourse at the third, sixth and 14th floors and short, central bandcourse at the fourth floor. It has decorative balconies on the eighth and 14th floors. Its windows above the second floor have bases with undulated bottoms and the central portion of the façade is slightly protruding above the second floor.
It permits protruding window air-conditioners and has inconsistent fenestration.
The building has a 24-hour attended lobby, a live-in super, a bicycle room, and storage and laundry facilities.
