Carter's Review

This very handsome, 7-story, mid-block building at 350 West 71st Street between Riverside Boulevard and West End Avenue was erected in 1920 and converted to a residential condominium in 2019 by DNA Development.

It has 38 apartments.

DXA Studio was the architect for the conversion.

This building is just to the west of 342-344 West 71st Street, which has an entrance canopy and a similar façade design.

An April 18, 2018 article at 6sqft.com by Dana Schulz noted that "For such a stereotypically well-off and elegant neighborhood, the Upper West Side certainly has its share of much-less-than-glamorous listings. A couple months ago, we featured a 68-square-foot (yes, you read that right) SRO with a communal bathroom that was asking a whopping $950 a month. Now, a similarly dismal pad has hit the market asking $1,000 a month (h/t Brick Underground)! Though the listing doesn’t reveal its square footage, it does make sure to specify, 'this is not a studio it is a single room' and that it has a shared bathroom. But it also is quick to gloat that the 'dorm-style' home comes with a mini fridge and hot plate."

This building fronts on a curved cul-de-sac at one end of one of the towers Donald Trump erected facing the Hudson River on Riverside Boulevard.

Bottom Line

A very elegant mid-block, mid-rise apartment building on a curved cul-de-sac half-a-block from Riverside Park.

Description

This building has an elegant façade with a two-story, rusticated, limestone base beneath beige brick façade with two rounded bays.

The building has sidewalk landscape and a five-step-up vestibule.

There is a bandcourse above the second floor and the third-floor windows have handsome banded frames.

The sixth floor has rusticated masonry and the building has a very attractive balustrade for a cornice.

Amenities

The building has a full-time doorman, a concierge, a children's playroom, storage, a package room and a roof deck.
