Overview of The Apthorp at 2211 Broadway

Occupying a full-block on the Upper West Side, the Apthorp at 2211 Broadway is a New York City landmark renowned for its Italian Renaissance Revival architecture and private courtyard drive. It contains more than 160 residences.

Built by William Waldorf Astor in 1908, the Apthorp is situated between 78th and West 79th Streets. It does not have private balconies, but it is distinguished by a beautifully landscaped center courtyard. The Apthorp has four lobbies – all of which are accessible from its courtyard – leading to opulent residences that have been carefully restored and renovated.

Amenities at the Apthorp include a full-service garage, a private roof deck, a landscaped garden, entertainment suite, children's playroom, a doorman in each of the 4 lobbies, and a resident manager. It is located near Riverside Park, which runs along the Hudson River and has jogging and biking paths. It is also convenient to many shops and restaurants. Carter’s Review

"One of the city's grandest apartment buildings and one of the few major courtyard buildings, the Apthorp is one of the most important landmarks on the Upper West Side.

This is the handsomest, full-block courtyard building on the Upper West Side, considerably more elegant than the Belnord, which is on Broadway at 86th Street."
