Carter's Review

This very handsome, 9-story, gray-brick apartment building at 67 Riverside Drive on the southeast corner at 79th Street is known as the Riverdale.

It was erected in 1907 and is a co-operative with 37 apartments.

It was designed by George F. Pelham.

It is located at an important entrance to the Henry Hudson Parkway and overlooks Riverside Park, the Hudson River and impressive apartment towers in Guttenberg, New Jersey.

Bottom Line

An ornate pre-war with a fine Riverside Drive location but the entrance has many steps and the building has no roof deck, no doorman and no garage.

Description

The building has a one-and-a-half-story limestone base with a low, wrought-iron fence in front of a moat.

It has a 6-step-up entrance that leads to a 5-step-up vestibule.

It does have a distinguished façade punctuated by many garlands and swags and attractive wrought-iron balconies and its nice lobby has handsome terrazzo floors.

The building has fine views of Riverside Park and the Hudson River and protruding air-conditioners. While the building has no sidewalk landscaping, it does have a very attractive garden to the north of its portico entrance in a light-court.

The building has exposed rooftop watertank.

There is very good cross-town bus service on West End Avenue at 79th Street and a subway station is at 79th Street and Broadway. There are many restaurants on stores nearby on Broadway.

Amenities

The building has a live-in superintendent and basement storage and permits pets.

It has no doorman, no health club, no garage, and no roof deck.
