Carter's Review
This very distinguished building at 251 West 92nd Street on the northwest corner of Broadway was erected in 1925 as The Roxborough.
It was designed by Neville & Bagge, the architects of the more spectacular Cornwall on the northwest corner of Broadway and 90th Street, one of the city's rare and important Art Nouveau buildings, and of the very handsome building at 42-48 East 20th Street.
This 12-story building replaced the Roxborough apartment building that had been erected in 1911 by the Yorkshire Realty and Building Company, headed by Isaac and Henry Meyer, who had recently sold the Allerton to Augustus Van Horne Stuyvesant. That building changed hands several times in the early 1920s until it was acquired in 1921 by J. Adolph Mollenhauer, who, according to The New York Times, was "prominently identified with sugar interests in this country."
It has 86 rental apartments.
