Carter's Review

This handsome, 13-story, pre-war, cooperative apartment building at 325 Riverside Drive on the southeast corner at 105th Street has 53 units.

It was built in 1920 and incorporated in 1984.

It was designed by Gaetan Ajello.

Bottom Line

A solid pre-war building with interesting placement of string courses.

Description

The red-brick building has attractive, Adamesque-style detailing and a 6-step-up entrance with a two-story surround on the side-street with a slightly arched top and a center escutcheon beneath a short balustrade.

The building’s third story windows have large lintels and a stringcourse beneath them near their tops.  There is a large bandcourse below the fourth floor which has large window surrounds.  The top floor has a similar and attractive decorative feature and the offset of the stringcourse with relation to the lintels creates an interesting visual dynamic.

The building, which has fine views of the Hudson River and Riverside Park, has protruding air-conditioners.

Amenities

The building has a doorman, a children’s playroom, a bicycle room and a laundry, but no health club, no roof deck no sidewalk landscaping and no garage.  It allows pets.
