Carter's Review
This handsome, 18-story building designed by Robert A. M. Stern is due for completion in 2019 and will have 31 condominium apartments on the same block as Zabar’s.
Mr. Stern designed the Harrison nearby on West 77th Street and 15 Central Park West as well as several of the city’s prime and elegant, Post-Modern residential skyscrapers such as 220 Central Park South, 520 Park Avenue and 30 Park Place.
Alchemy Properties, which is converted the upper floors of the Woolworth Building on Broadway to residential condominiums, and the Carlyle Group are the developers.
It is replacing a three-story retail building and the lower two floors of the new building will have retail.
The side is convenient to Riverside Park and not far from the 79th Street subway station.
Bottom Line
Another elegant Post-Modern residential tower with a shapely watertank enclosure by Robert A. M. Stern that this time is very close to Zabar’s. Enough said!
