Carter's Review

This very attractive 6-story building at 177 Duane Street between Greenwich and Hudson streets fronts on Duane Park, one of the city’s smallest but very nice urban oases.  It was converted to 11 co-operative apartments in 1998.

It is known as “Double Triangle.”

The TriBeCa West Historic District designation report states that the red-brick building stone trim “displays characteristics of the neo-Grec and Queen Anne styles.”

Bottom Line

This 6-story, red-brick, 19th Century building fronts on Duane Park, one of the city’s nicest small oases, in a very prime TriBeCa location not far from a subway.

Description

This red-brick building has a nice, darkly painted cast-iron, one-story base and a fire escape in the middle of its façade.

The tall windows are separated by attractive, light-colored stone trim and keystones.

The building has a very handsome and nicely detailed cornice and the second and third floors have indented pilasters with stone caps.

Amenities

Key-locked elevator, video intercom, bicycle room, fronts on delightful small park in very prime TriBeCa location.

Apartments

The apartments have high ceilings and some have exposed brick walls.

A third-floor apartment has a 15-foot-long gallery that leads to a 38-foot-long living/dining room with an 11-foot-wide kitchen with an island.
