Carter's Review

This 12-story, mid-block building at 88 Laight Street between Washington and West streets in TriBeCa is known as the Glass Condominium and it contains seven apartments. 

It was built in 2005. 

Anthony Morali was the architect.

88 Laight Street LLC, a partnership with James Yu and Stephanie M. Yu, was the developer.

Bottom Line

This TriBeCa mid-block building has apacious layouts with 17-foot-ceilings with large balconies, a part-time doorman and private storage space.

Description

The ground floor has a stone façade with narrow elliptical light fixtures and a five-step-up entrance.  

The units feature broad balconies with photovoltaic glass railings to convert solar energy into electricity.

The building has a part-time doorman.

Apartments

Apartments are full-floor units and have individual climate control systems as well as washers and dryers. 

Units, which range in size 1,982 to 4,201 square feet, have steam rain-showers, jetted baths and soaking tubs 

Kitchens have stainless-steel Viking, Sub-zero and Miele appliances and granite countertops and marble backsplashes. 

The penthouse has a 22-foot-long living/dining room with slanted window, a 12-foot-long, open kitchen with an island and a 21-foot-long den on the lower level, a 21-foot-long master bedroom with a 17-foot-long master bath on the upper level and a 59-foot-long roof deck. 

The duplex unit on the 7th and 8th floors has a 28-foot-long living room with a 13-foot-long pass-through kitchen, a 32-foot-long balcony and a 13-foot-long den/media room on the main level and a 22-foot-long bedroom and long hall on the mezzanine level. 

The 6th floor has a 28-foot-long living room with a 13-foot-long open kitchen with an island, a 32-foot-long balcony, a 14-foot-long bedroom and a 13-foot-long den on the main level and a 15-foot-long bedroom and a 12-foot-long office with a small balcony on the mezzanine level.
