Carter's Review

This attractive, 12-story, gray-brick condominium apartment building was erected in 1961 and has 102 units.

The building has some curved terraces on its top floor that are cantilevered out over terraces two floors below, giving the structure an appearance somewhat reminiscent of the top of an ocean liner. The building has a doorman, a three-step-down vestibule, spiked landscaping planters, and no garage, no health club and no roof deck. It is across the street from an attractive five-story building belonging to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and from the large Dag Hammarskjold Plaza apartment tower at the Second Avenue corner.

There are numerous restaurants in this area that is close to Grand Central Terminal and the Turtle Bay neighborhood and several interesting skyscrapers. There is good cross-town bus service on 42nd Street although subways are not too close.

One United Nations Park is an unprecedented interplay of privacy and light—a balance that reflects the architecture’s bold exterior and luminous interiors.
