Carter's Review

This 6-story building at 247 West 12th Street between Greenwich Avenue and West 4th Street in the West Village was erected in 1923 as a garage and converted to a residential co-operative known as Greenwich House in 1985 with 22 units.

The building, which is known as Greenwich House, runs through the block to Jane Street.

This block is cobble-stone.

Bottom Line

You can’t always tell a building from its façade.  This rather plain-looking structure in a very central location in the West Village has a full-time doorman, some very attractive, high-ceiling, large units, some with wood-burning fireplaces, and dedicated parking spaces in its garage.

Description

This red-brick building has all its decorative elements at its top with two “hanging” escutcheons in the center and two turrets, each with two project crosses, at its east and west ends.

The building has sidewalk landscaping.

Amenities

The building has a full-time doorman, a roof deck, a garage, storage, a laundry and is pet friendly.
