Carter's Review

This 15-story, mid-block building at 296 West 10th Street in the West Village is known as the River West Condominiums.  

It was designed in 1998 by Oslo Associates of which Robert Haskell is a parter. 

It has 23 apartments and was designed by Architects Design Group.

Bottom Line

One of the taller buildings in the West Village close to the Hudson River, this building offers good views and the charm of this historic neighborhood.

Description

The light-orange-brick building has two setbacks, three broad, light-colored bandcourses, and an exposed rooftop watertank.  It also has discrete air-conditioners.

Amenities

The building has a keyed elevator, discrete air-conditioners, a live-in superintendent, and a laundry room.  Pets are permitted.

It is close to a PATH subway station.

Apartments

Apartment 1-E is a two-bedroom duplex with a 16-foot foyer leading to a 8-foot-long dining room, a 20-foot-long living room with an open kitchen and a 11-foot-wide solarium next to a 23-foot-long patio.  The upper level also has a 12-foot-long bedroom and the lower level has a 23-foot-long master bedroom. 

The 12th floor apartment is a three-bedroom unit that has a corner living/dining room with a balcony, a fireplace and an open kitchen. 

Apartment 25 is a two-bedroom unit with an 8-foot-entry foyer leads to a 19-foot-wide dining room with a dining area next to an open, pass-through kitchen.
